Job description: Job Summary



The UWC Operations Coordinator coordinates department resources and fiscal and personnel operations in addition to providing administrative support to the University Writing Center Director and the center's administrative and front desk operations.



Key Responsibilities


  • Coordinates and provide clerical and administrative support for the day-to-day operations the University Writing Center - Ensures that all professional staff and student workers have those resources needed to deliver instructional services. Assist with the planning and coordination arrangement for UWC events. Locate and reserve off-site facilities for workshops, meetings, and other functions.

  • Coordinates and informs the Director on all fiscal and personnel matters - Oversee financial transactions, including deposits, purchasing, work orders, and other expenditures. Prepare documents needed for professional staff personnel matters (e.g., recruitment-related forms, personnel transaction forms, leave requests, etc.) and assist in scheduling interviews.

  • Tutoring Assistance and Tutoring Appointment Coordination - Assists tutors. Provides tutors with guidance on procedures, how to complete tasks, where to find resources. Answers questions regarding technology.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities



Excellent customer service skills. Experience generating reports, compiling and analyzing data. Knowledge of software programs, including Word, Excel. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent cross-cultural communication skills and experience in a culturally diverse environment. Understanding of human resources policies and procedures preferred. Knowledge of financial management and campus fiscal policies and procedures.



Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."



Education and Experience



  • Equivalent to four years of administrative support experience required.



  • Previous CSULB support experience preferred.



  • Social media and web experience preferred.

Physical Summary

  • Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.



CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,505 - $5,508 per month.

Time Base



1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.



Duration of Appointment



This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
