The School of Art + Art History in the College of the Arts at the University of Florida is seeking individuals of all races, ethnicities, genders, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives for the position of Printmaking and WARP (Workshop for Art Research and Practice) Teaching Lab Specialist. Join our team in instructing and engaging faculty, staff and students on utilizing a safe, educational, and creative studio and lab. Supervise and maintain the functioning of all printmaking and WARP studio needs, instructing and orienting faculty and students to lab and studio procedures, equipment usage, checkout and health and safety compliance.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assure that the space, equipment, and materials for Printmaking and WARP classes, classrooms, labs, and studios are safe, well-functioning, and accessible.
  • Procure, maintain/repair, organize, and secure equipment, materials, and supplies in instructional and storage spaces for Printmaking and WARP.
  • Research new equipment, materials, and best practices and work with faculty and/or the director's office to determine needs and budget for equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Instruct students and make sure that they check out, return, and use equipment properly, while complying with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise student monitors assigned to oversee lab spaces during open studio hours. Supervise graduate students who lead WARP Open Studio hours.
  • Demonstrate materials and processes in classes, as needed.
Location and Schedule:

Working about half of the time at Fine Arts Building C on UF's main campus located at 1370 Inner Road, Gainesville, Florida 32611 and half of the time at the WARP off-campus facility located at 534 SW 4th Ave, Gainesville, Florida 32601

Monday - Friday 8-5pm with an hour lunch
Expected Salary:

$43,000 annual
Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and six years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will bring to the position
  • a graduate degree in art or art-related field
  • project management experience that demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills and appropriate attention to detail
  • evidence of proactive approaches with the ability to address technical problems in a variety of facilities and across several artistic media
  • evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances pluralism, curiosity, viewpoint diversity, open intellectual discourse, and the well-being of all in the context of cultural and ideological difference.
