Job description: General Description
Provides instruction and support implementing online teaching best practices, applying online technology, and using the online learning management system to deliver online courses for the CCPS virtual school program. Provides instruction and assistance in developing and/or using digital content in the K-12 academic environment. Models effective integration of e-Learning technologies and instructional design practices. Work is performed at the professional level within specific program guidelines. Supports PACE (online credit recovery) program. Additional online teaching assignments may be assigned as needed.
Essential Job Functions
Works with identified staff to develop digital content supporting the CCPS virtual school program and the school division's blended learning initiative
Works with identified staff to support online teachers using the school district's learning management system
Designs and conducts training of personnel in the integration of online learning objects and other digital content to meet the diverse needs of learners in online and blended learning environments
Promotes curriculum models that make effective use of e-Learning and information/communication technologies, such as cooperative and collaborative projects, student engagement and innovation, and student-centered curriculum.
Establishes communication channels necessary to achieve the online learning program goals.
Demonstrates exemplary online teaching and instructional design practices that make effective and innovative use of e-Learning technologies.
Ensures development criteria and instructional design standards are met and implemented.
Provides training and support in the use of the online learning management system, authoring software applications and other e-Learning technologies used by the school division.
Participates in on-going training and projects related to job responsibilities. Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence.
Teaches students taking virtual courses and in online credit recovery offered through the CCPS virtual school program as needed
Assesses student learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Contacts:
Online students, parents, teachers, guidance counselors, administrators, integrators and other support staff (both online and school building based).

Requires collaborative decision making in establishing priorities and workflow with guidance from eLearning Developer and program manager. Decisions regarding department initiatives/projects require supervisory approval.

Physical Demands:
Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to use a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear, understand speech and speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly at normal levels indoors and on the telephone. Physical agility to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.
Work Environment: Work is performed in an office setting. The noise level is moderate.
Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of online learning in K-12 education with special emphasis on instructional methodologies and course design best practices. Considerable knowledge of subject content and best instructional practices in STEM Education. Considerable knowledge of the innovative use of information and communication technologies for e-Learning including online learning management systems, authoring programs and Google Apps for Education. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver online learning technology support to students, teachers, administrators and other personnel. Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing online learning experiences using the Blackboard learning management system and various digital content development applications. Demonstrated ability in interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability in organizational and time management skills.
Requirements
Must hold a valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Mathematics. Online Teaching experience at the K12 level required. Experience working in an online learning environment and knowledge of online learning instructional design best practices. Experience as a virtual teacher at the secondary level preferred.
