Reporting to the Director of the Library, the Online Learning Project Librarian (OLPL) is a key member of Pitts Theology Library?s Reference team. The OLPL provides in-person and virtual research and reference services and works closely with other team members to provide fully online and digital library instruction. This work includes physical presence at the reference desk, monitoring online reference inquiries, and conducting research consultations. The OLPL also works with the Reference and Instruction Librarian and members of the Office of Digital Learning to identify, create, promote, and facilitate digital library instruction for Candler School of Theology students, staff, and faculty. The OLPL also serves as an internal consultant for other librarians at Pitts and Emory on the best practices for extending library services to patrons who do not have physical access to library collections, spaces, and services.

As a member of the Pitts Reference, Instruction, and Outreach team, the OLPL creates digital learning objectives for distance and in-person learners; advocates for online library services and instruction by understanding, communicating, and employing best practices for online learning and online information literacy; and integrates library learning and information literacy into various digital access points like the LMS (Canvas) and orientation.

NOTE: This is a 3-year contract position

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

?? Staffs the library reference desk and virtual reference services for 10-15 hours per week and conducts research consultations with patrons
?? Participates in the library?s instructional design and online programming
?? Creates and maintains LibGuides of curated electronically available items
?? Participates in professional and scholarly associations relevant to reference and outreach in an academic library
?? Maintains up-to-date professional knowledge and skills in areas related to Pitts? patron needs, especially digital needs, and maintains general knowledge of current trends in the relevant disciplines, higher education, academic libraries, and information and educational technology
?? Develops expertise in library best practices for serving distance patrons
?? Maintains up-to-date professional knowledge of online instruction design
?? Participates in library and campus committees as appropriate for service purposes
?? Establishes and maintains relationships with institutional and community partners

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
?? Master?s degree in theology, religious studies, or related discipline
?? Excellent organization and project management skills
?? Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
?? Experience with Universal Design and online pedagogy
?? Familiarity and experience working with integrated library systems and standard research tools in the humanities
?? Experience conducting or supporting research in theology, religious studies, or a related discipline
?? Demonstrated teaching experience
?? Understanding of current research practices in theology or religious studies as well as information and digital literacy trends

REFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
?? PhD in theology, religious studies, or related discipline
?? Master's degree in library and information studies, instructional design, or equivalent
?? Demonstrated success teaching in higher education
?? Experience conducting advanced research in theology or religious studies
?? Demonstrated expertise with digital tools used in higher education
?? Experience with SpringShare SaaS, or similar platform
