IT Support Specialist
1. Position Summary
Provide on-site and remote desktop IT support services for a 200-person industrial company located near Love Field in Dallas. Respond to and resolve all user hardware/software related problems and service requests. Assist in the installation and maintenance of our servers and network environment.
2. Responsibilities
The responsibilities of an IT Support Specialist include, but are not limited to:
- First line of support for users with all their technology issues/needs.
- Quickly analyze and resolve system failures to ensure a smooth workflow for employees.
- Provide user instruction as needed on commonly used applications and utilities.
- Responsible for the implementation, installation, maintenance, and support of end user equipment.
- Provide over-the-phone support to users: problem identification, instruction, and resolution.
- Assist and participate in implementing and planning IT Projects.
- Utilize IT tools to keep devices virus free.
- Assist in creation and maintenance of written documentation on problem solutions, tool configurations and end user documentation.
- Escalates to supervisor as required. Works independently as much as possible.
3. Minimum Qualifications
- Requires basic knowledge of Windows OS (10/11), Networking, Active Directory, Smart Phones (Primarily Apple), and general applications.
- Good consultative and communication skills, analytical ability, decision-making, strong judgement, and the ability to work effectively with IT management and end users.
- Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to understand the business and technical needs of the company to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, support multiple initiatives simultaneously, and prioritize work to effectively support users.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to think logically and creatively in problem solving. Should know when to escalate a problem.
- Working conditions/physical demands of bending and lifting weights up to 35 pounds.
- May be required on rare occasions to work weekends and/or stay late.
4. Preferred qualifications
- BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Familiarity with Office Suite (Outlook/Excel/Access/VBA)
- Familiarity with SQL Server
- Familiarity with basic HTML
- CompTIA A+ Certification
- CompTIA Network+ Certification
