About the position

As a Fin Reporting Accountant I at Aflac, you will play a crucial role in the financial reporting process, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations. This position is designed for individuals who are detail-oriented and possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. You will be responsible for collecting, organizing, analyzing, and evaluating financial and statistical data, preparing internal and external reports, and providing guidance on accounting procedures and policies. Your work will directly impact the financial integrity of the organization, and you will have the opportunity to collaborate with various departments to enhance financial systems and processes. In this hybrid role, you will be expected to work from the Aflac office in Columbus, GA for at least 60% of the work week, with the remaining time spent working from home. This flexibility allows you to balance your professional responsibilities with personal commitments while contributing to a dynamic team environment. Responsibilities
? Perform duties with limited latitude for independent action and decision-making within the framework of the job.

? Interpret and apply laws and regulations; act as an advisor to division management and/or designated representatives.

? Collect, organize, analyze, and evaluate financial and statistical data and other related information.

? Complete quantitative and qualitative reviews, and prepare required internal and external records, reports, statistics, financial statements, analyses, and stockholders' reports.

? Identify and resolve accounting and financial account and/or transaction discrepancies, providing detailed explanations for variances between actual and planned activities.
,
? Maintain complete and accurate regulatory filings; assist with developing, analyzing, and implementing accounting procedures in a systems environment in conformance with GAAP, SSAP, SEC, IRS, and other regulatory standards.

? Establish and maintain effective working relationships with business partners, and state and federal agencies.

? Stay abreast of current trends and regulatory changes in the industry; assist senior team members in developing and implementing new applications and analytical models or enhancing existing systems.

Requirements
? Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

? Two years of job-related accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
,
? Broad knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), SEC and other federal regulations.

? Broad knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting and financial systems user applications (SAP preferred).
,
? Ability to perform financial analyses and related systems and quantitative business-based analyses.
