What is the opportunity?
? The Sr. Manager, 1st Line Risk Oversight & Surveillance role will oversee the trading and financial risk associated with independent broker-dealers and RIA firms that clear and/or custody through RBC Clearing & Custody.
? The position will also be responsible for developing and leading risk surveillance practices to identify risk trends or patterns of behavior that may require further review.

What will you do?
? Interact with team members and C&C risk management personnel to monitor risk limits and maintain policies, working closely with broker-dealers and RIAs to manage the financial risk associated with their activities.
? Effectively communicate with C&C firms by educating and advising them on credit and market risk in order for them to make sound business decisions, while mitigating financial risk to their firms as well as RBC.
? Execute a delegation of authority plan to ensure any changes to credit limits are approved by clearly defined stakeholders.
? Understand the business activities of C&C client firms, with a focus towards proprietary and institutional trading.
? Remain current on industry trends around financial exposure to educate C&C client firms of risk management practices and procedures.
? Help develop and operationalize new surveillance capabilities based on insights obtained from data analytics, changing business needs, and regulatory developments.
? Contribute to the enhancement of various existing surveillance processes designed to identify and mitigate risk, identifying opportunities for automation or optimization where possible.
? Lead processes to perform initial triage of surveillance findings for escalation to other teams such as Client Risk Prevention or the Business Supervision Group.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
? Bachelor?s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience within the securities industry
? Series 7 Licensed or ability to obtain within 120 days of starting position
? Prior risk management experience
? Sound judgment and a substantive understanding of risk policies, processes, and practices
? Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects on an ongoing basis in a fast paced, ever-changing work environment

Nice-to-have
? Excellent interpersonal, oral, written and presentation skills
? Highly self-directed; takes initiative, functions independently, and fosters collaboration across teams
? Effective problem identification, analytical, and resolution skills
? Strong ability to interact with all levels of staff

The expected salary range for this particular position is $85,000-$150,000 , depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
