Job TitleTeen Teacher Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service Department County Program Urban Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationDallas, Texas Job TypeStudent Worker Job Description Job Description Summary The Teen Teacher works as a teacher, leader, and mentor for youth who are participating in the Teen Teacher Program. Youth are to have a safe place where they can learn and encounter a positive experience while doing so. Qualifications Must be between the ages of 14 to 18. Motivated to learn. Comfortable with public speaking. Able to work as part of a team. Responsibilities Role models for all youth in the program by always exhibiting appropriate behavior. Participates fully in all orientation and training provided by the sponsoring organization. Completes all preparations necessary for teaching assignments. Works in partnership with adult volunteers, teaching site staff, Dallas AgriLife Extension staff, and fellow Teen Teachers to plan and lead the program. Teaches all assigned lessons. Provides direct mentor support to assist youth in learning program content. Assists in program evaluation. Learns to collect data, including forms, sign-in sheets, checklists, skill sheets, evaluation surveys, and other record-keeping activities. Participates in leadership opportunities when asked and as appropriate. Other Requirements Location: Teen Teachers align with specific teaching sites and may teach at other sites as needed. Time Commitment: Six weeks to a year; expected to work ten to twenty hours per week. Salary Hourly Rate: $10/hour All positions are security-sensitive.
