ASL-VRI Interpreter - Daytime, Evening, Weekend Shifts
- Description:
- Facilitate communication access among Deaf and hearing communities
- Provide interpreting and/or transliterating services primarily in the healthcare environment
- Keep all medical information strictly confidential
- Follow the NAD-RID Professional Code of Conduct
- Render the message faithfully, always conveying the content and spirit of the speaker
- Accept assignments using discretion with regard to skill, setting, and the consumers involved
- Function in a manner appropriate to each interpreted situation
- Strive to further knowledge and skills through professional development
- Maintain high professional standards by virtue of professional membership, certification, and ethical practices.
- Requirements:
- Complete proficiency in ASL
- Valid certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
- Knowledge of the NAD-RID Professional Code of Conduct
- Self-motivated with good customer service skills
- Able to work well with minimal supervision
- Good judgment and problem-solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to plan ahead and maintain a flexible work schedule
- Strong coaching, development, and communication skills
- Experience using MS Office and other related software and systems (e.g., Internet and Intranet applications)
- Medical interpretation experience
