Position Summary:
Teachers are the most important daily leaders and shapers of intellectual and ethical culture on our campuses. Every teacher is a role model and must always act and speak as one.
Great Hearts Online faculty will design and develop best-in-class, classical virtual courses and become expert online facilitators of instruction, discourse, and community. This position is fully remote.

    The Online Special Education Teacher:
  • Provides educational services to students with disabilities in the online environment
  • Plans, develops, delivers, and evaluates appropriate individualized educational services, learning programs, and instruction in both self- contained and all other integrated settings in consultation with other school personnel and Online Special Education Coordinator.
    Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned Demonstrate competency in the core academic subject area assigned
  • Valid Texas Special Education certification
    Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of assigned core subject
  • Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and current special education practices and methodologies
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and policies affecting special education
  • Knowledge of educational technology applications

Experience: 2+ years of Special Education teaching

    Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations/modifications for differences in individual student needs.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment/ technology that reflect understanding the needs of students’ assigned deliver subject matter according to each students Individual Plan (IEP) and guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Ongoing communication and collaboration with campus Special Education Coordinators, teachers, staff, and administration regarding student planning, scheduling, and student progress.
  • Work cooperatively with general education teachers to modify and/or accommodate curricula, as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in the Individualized Education Plan.
  • Maintain records for data collection and progress monitoring for all assigned students.
  • Assist parents with understanding and supporting educational objectives, learning expectations and behavioral standards in the online learning environment
  • Participate in any Professional Development activities, as requested by the headmaster ..
  • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers..
  • Attend and participate in meetings for Special Educations services and supports, as appropriate
  • Maintain a current knowledge of special education best practices and trends.
