Job Description for Cash Handler:
The Cash Handler is responsible for accurately processing customer transactions, ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout experience. They provide excellent customer service, handle cash and electronic payments, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the checkout area.
- Responsibilities for Cash Handler:
- Ensure all guests receive fast, efficient, and friendly service, with their happiness being our main focus
- Diligently take down guests' food and beverage orders and input them correctly into the POS system. Manage transactions by accepting payments and ensuring accurate change is given back to customers.
- Devise basic menu selections that follow the NYC Department of Health's recommended practices for food preparation
- Accomplish closing responsibilities which include cleaning, storing items, and removing trash from specified areas.
- Make sure that the work area is maintained in a clean, neat, and secure manner.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities like replenishing supplies and sanitizing, ensuring workspaces are in a presentable condition for the next shifts
- Check I.D. for all patrons ordering alcoholic drinks.
- Showcase enticing add-ons and enhancements to enrich your shopping experience.
- Engage in discussions with co-workers, managers, and supervisors to enforce compliance with the company's service standards, inventory guidelines, and cash handling procedures.
- Ability to engage in arithmetic tasks related to all types of United States monetary units (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Handle any extra responsibilities provided by supervisors or managers
- Qualifications for Cash Handler:
- The age criterion for all applicants is a minimum of 18 years
- Having a high school diploma or its commensurate substitute is a compulsory condition
- At least one year cashier experience experience in a high-volume facility preferred.
- Exhibiting a strong commitment to detail and exceptional organization with proficient time management and prioritization abilities
- Fulfilling the state and city health requirements is imperative for the safe handling of food and service of alcoholic drinks
- Proficient in managing various tasks simultaneously in a team-oriented, fast-paced scenario
- Effective communication with both managers and team members is a significant asset
- Skill to operate effectively in an open-air environment during different weather conditions or while aboard a moving vessel
- Competence in moving loads up and down staircases, ramps, or gangways that do not exceed 30 pounds in weight
- Ability to vary work hours to meet business requirements, which could involve working late, on weekends, or during holidays
- The capacity for ample movement is vital for carrying out designated production responsibilities, which include constant reaching, bending, stooping, wiping, pushing, and pulling over prolonged periods
- Practice caution in the workplace, comply with safety policies, protocols, and regulations, attend company-wide safety training sessions, as well as additional safety training tailored to individual job roles.
