Job Title: Business Management Intern

Duration: 10 weeks

Location: Virtual, Hybrid or In Person depending on location - ideally in Baltimore

Global Business Consulting (GBC) is the consulting arm of American Express Global Business Travel. GBC brings the talent, tools and management consulting skill needed to manage our client’s Travel & Entertainment (T&E) spend and maximize their return on investment. GBC focuses on business and operational strategy, strategic sourcing, and program optimization to help our clients manage their travel spend. Our specialized expertise includes Policy, Change Management & Compliance, Travel Program Management, Business Intelligence, Travel Category Management (Air, Car, and Hotel) and Cost Management.

The GBC team consists of consultants from a wide variety of backgrounds - from the Air, Hotel, and Ground industries, travel, management consulting, IT consulting and general management. Since its establishment in 2007, the practice has grown rapidly due to the maturity of the travel landscape and investments in the business.

Primary area of focus for the Internship position will be related to the Business management function. As an Intern, you will be part of a dynamic team that manages and evaluates the performance of GBC across all clients. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop a deeper understanding of the business management function while working closely with experienced professionals.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with interest or completed studies in the financial or data arenas. This candidate is comfortable learning/working in a remote environment but may also have some opportunity to meet face to face with the business manager depending on their location.

The Business Management Intern is expected to exhibit skills in the following areas:
• Assist in the development of reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations for management
• Work with the business manager to analyze data
• Utilization of data, various tools, and benchmarking to formulate your recommendations, analyze trends and patterns to find opportunities and risks for some specific business lines.
• Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure accurate and timely delivery of information required.
• Participate in team meetings and other relevant activities to gain exposure and knowledge.
• Perform ad hoc tasks as needed to support the team's goals and objectives.

Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance or Data Science and analytics or related fields
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficient in Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI or others and the ability to interpret data and create presentations using these tools is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Must be able to commit to a 10-week internship (start/stop dates flexible based on university requirements)

The US national hourly wage range for this position is from $18.00 to $36.00 per hour. The national range provided includes the hourly rate that GBT expects to pay for the role. Actual hourly wage rate will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.
