Job title: Tech Tutor - Graphic Arts Company: Duluth Public Schools Job description : Join the Duluth Public Schools team, where we work to inspire every student to achieve their potential and prepare students to lead productive, fulfilling lives. Summary: Duluth Public Schools is seeking an individual to assist the Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher with program academics and curriculum offerings, including assistance in controlling student behavior and directing students so that they can be successful in technical classes. Assists with providing classroom and hands on instruction. Mimimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent 60 semester or 90 quarter college credits OR a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment. At least one year of experience as a job coach or a closely-related area Minimum Qualifications: Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED certificate, and a college­level course in the philosophies and practices of vocational education, and at least one year of experience as a job coach or a closely­related area; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of the work. Knowledge Requirements: Directly related technical skills and creative process used in graphic communications industry Knowledge of graphic design, photography, printing, silk screening, typography, and desktop publishing Occupational experience in the related programs of automotive, carpentary, cooking and horticulture Considerable knowledge of grammar, including sentence structure Basic math knowledge Some knowledge of a specific occupational area as related to supporting emotionally­behaviorally disadvantaged students General knowledge of special education and areas of disabilities General familiarity with classroom materials use in Career and Technical Educational classes Experience with equipment such as PC, Vinyl Cutter, Heat Press, Screen Printing Press, Design Tablet, Large Format Printer, etc. Knowledge of graphic design, screenprinting, dye sublimation, other skilled graphic trades Occupational experience in the related programs of Graphic Design, Adobe Creative Suite, Production Knowledge of the PC environment, troubleshooting Basic ability to maintain Graphic Arts Equipment Skill Requirements: Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or similar software package Experience in the creation of print media, using text and graphics to communicate ideas and information General technical skills in vocational areas such as graphic arts, automotive engines, carpentry, cooking, or horticulture Ability to be flexible Willing to learn all aspects of the course Presenting classroom or lab lessons to individual student or groups of students Critical thinking skills Interpersonal skills Basic skills in reading, mathematics and other content areas Ability to assess and make decisions about student behavior Experience working with secondary students Additional Information: This position is required to travel between East High School and Denfeld High School. Position will work primarily with Graphic Arts.
