Job title: Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Company: The Collaborative for Higher Education Shared Services Job description : Compensation: $150,542 Compensation Type: Employee Employment Type: Salary Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Grade: E20 Department: Business Management Position Summary The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA) reports to the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA) and is responsible for assisting the VPASA with leadership and coordination for teaching and learning and the development and implementation of instructional programs at Santa Fe Community College. The AVPAA works with administrators, faculty, and staff at SFCC to provide leadership and coordination of academic policy, course and curriculum development and discontinuance, assessment and program review, transfer partnerships with four-year institutions, credit for prior learning, and faculty professional development. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community. Actively participates in and contributes to continuous quality improvement with an equity lens. This position is available for a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on the demands of specific tasks. Working from the office is encouraged for tasks that require a high degree of collaboration. Duties & Responsibilities Report directly to the VPASA and collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators from across the institution to fulfill the institutional mission and strategic plan. Assist the VPASA in planning, directing, evaluating, developing, and improving academic programs and related services Oversee the development and implementation of any academic MOUs. Collaborate with the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, Deans, Faculty, Staff, and Students to ensure that student outcomes are central in collective dedecision-makingCollaborate with academic leadership to develop strategies for the scheduling of academic courses. Support planning and project management in Academic Affairs. Utilize data to engage in equity-based decision-making that will result in systemic improvements. Collaborate with academic leadership to assess faculty needs and coordinate recruitment efforts. Support effective teaching through collaboration, resource allocation, data analysis, and strategy implementation. Create efficiencies in the process for supporting faculty and academic leadership. Actively participate in the preparation and execution of accreditation reports and visits Serve as a resource for college staff in solving student-related issues; develop strategies for interaction between faculty and other academic and student support staff to meet faculty and student needs while improving teaching and learning, student retention, and student completion. Assure adequate and appropriate budget planning; administer funds allocated through the approved annual budget. Provide leadership to teams and committees in areas of responsibility. Supervise 5 to 10 employees. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of best practices in the areas of teaching and learning, student retention, and student completion. Knowledge of best practices in online instruction and programming. Knowledge of Adult Education, Continuing Education, and Contract Training best practices. Knowledge of student conduct process, Title IX, and VAWA. Knowledge of best practices in higher education administration. Knowledge of budget development and management principles. Knowledge of organizational management and supervisor principles. Knowledge of equity principles from the perspective of student success. A demonstrated record of skills in the following areas: educational leadership; curriculum development and management, project management, problem solving, and decision-making. Knowledge of or familiarity with the mission and distinctive features of community colleges. Skill in the delegation of responsibility and authority. Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs. Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in consensus building and working with a diverse population. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and community members. Work Environment The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects. Work Schedule Typically, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Monday - Friday. Weekend and after-hours may be required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree. Eight (8) years of experience in higher education administration. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a community college setting.
