About the position

The Complex Desk Claims Adjuster at American Family Insurance is responsible for investigating and managing highly complex property and casualty claims. This role focuses on providing exceptional customer service while interpreting policies, evaluating coverages, and negotiating settlements. The position requires a high degree of competency and independence in handling claims, with a potential specialization in high-severity property or bodily injury claims.

Responsibilities
? Investigate origin and cause of high exposure non-litigated claims by contacting appropriate parties.

? Participate in High Damage Reviews (HDR) to address coverage issues and exposure.
,
? Handle claims on a good faith basis.
,
? Handle Third-Party claims under multiple policy types and numerous endorsements.
,
? Participate in on-site inspections when needed, evaluate damages, and handle claim negotiations.
,
? Respond to customer inquiries, make appropriate decisions, and close files as needed.
,
? Interpret and determine policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages for assigned losses.

? Make independent decisions while recognizing when assistance is needed.
,
? Proactively provide all parties with claim process and status updates; answer questions or redirect as necessary.
,
? Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for less experienced adjusters.

Requirements
? Demonstrated ability to handle Third-Party, multi-line claims across operating territories.
,
? Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
,
? Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively handle complex claims.
,
? Extensive knowledge of policies and endorsement coverages.
,
? Successfully applied knowledge of each phase of the claim-handling process.
,
? Obtain state-specific property casualty claims licensing as required.
