The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works collaboratively to provide direct and indirect patient care in the ambulatory setting. The LPN provides nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of the physician or Registered Nurse (RN) accepts delegation to meet the needs of the patient. The LPN provides nursing care in accordance with the policies and procedures of Monument Health, standards of the profession and in accordance with the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act, and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and/or accreting agencies.

Job Description
- Essential Functions:
- Ensures that the examination and treatment spaces are properly arranged as per clinic standards.
- Prepares for patient care by participating in pre visit planning and setting up exam and treatment areas as outlined by clinic guidelines.
- Handles patient rooming procedures by measuring vital signs, gathering data, and addressing clinic-specific requirements.
- Precisely executes medication administration and documentation following clinic best practices.
- Administers nursing procedures and treatments within the Scope of Responsibilities, following the clinic specific standards and nursing department guidelines.
- Illustrates efficiency in conducting assessments, implementing clinical interventions, evaluating progress, and adapting the care plan collaboratively with an RN or healthcare professional.
- Provide pre-authorized patient education brochures. Reinforce the health education and discharge information shared by the RN or healthcare provider, guiding patients to seek further clarification or details from the RN or provider.
- Carries out autonomous nurse visits as allowed within the scope of practice and departmental regulations with appropriate supervision.
- Assist in inbox supervision and the completion of patient referrals and authorizations following the established protocols and permissible responsibilities.
- Assists in the orientation and mentorship of clinical employees as per the established scope.
- Supports the department's advancement through participation in meetings, committees, and ongoing professional development.
- Verifies that the patient record contains accurate and concise documentation outlined in the Scope of Responsibilities.
- Tasks outside the usual scope of work.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing
Certification - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years of Healthcare Experience
Physical Requirements:
Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
